100 Years Tove Jansson
The Moomins in Erlangen 19 – 22 June 2014 Opening Hours: Thu, noon–7pm; Fri/Sat, 10am–7pm; Sun, 10am–6pm Rathaus, Kleiner Ratssaal, 1. Stock
Tove Jansson is one of the most famous Finish authors. She often spent the summer with her parents in a small house on the seaside. That environment influenced the emergence of her most popular characters, the Moomins. In 1948, after the publication of the Moomin-stories – at first only illustrated in small badges of vignettes – the publishing house Associated Press asked Tove Jansson to turn it into a regular comic strip for their newspaper. The Moomins always followed their curiosity and gave free rein to their ludic drive. This, however, often gets them into trouble, but it never gets them down. In Moominvalley, friendship and sense of family are much more important than order or ambitiousness. And almost every story ends with a great party … you cannot but love them!
An exhibition in cooperation with FILI – Finnish Literature Exchange and Moomin Characters Ltd.
